The night sky is something that constantly fills me with wonder. Last night I went out to the country for a bit to check out the unavoidable “supermoon” (which means the moon is in Perigee, thus much larger, something that happens once a year but the news forgets that they freaked out about it last year and goes nuts again) and watch for shooting stars. Fuck the moon… I mean don’t fuck the moon. The moon is great. It effects our tides, it’s profoundly effected the evolution of life on this planet, and it’s gorgeous to boot. But that said, the supermoon hype was overblown. It was bright, it was big. That was cool. But the Eta Aquariid meteor shower is where it was at. Watching as bits of rock and metal hurl across the night sky… beautiful. It’s a shame the moon was so bright, so we couldn’t see more of them. Oh well… there will be other meteor showers. Hopefully the moon won’t be such a dick next time. ;)
