So this is obviously a spoilerific post about the ending of Crazy, Stupid, Love, a movie that I enjoyed a lot (but I just think one aspect of the ending is awful). You’ve been warned.

So we’ve observed the unrequited puppy love that Robbie (played by Jonah Bobo) has for his babysitter, Jessica (played by Analeigh Tipton), this kid declares his love for the chick in public (AGAIN) and she responds with nude photos. Now just to be clear, she’s just taken a bad situation (a kid who’s been jerking off every day to just the thought of her, a kid whom she has no attraction to and has been making public declarations of his love for the whole fucking movie) and made it 100x worse. She’s effectively ruined him for all other women (ladies take note, if you want to ruin an adolescent’s life here’s a guidebook) and has absolutely no feelings for this kid. Sure she might respect the tenacity, but she has no intention of dating a newly minted 9th grader. She’s all about the older dudes, because she’s been all wet for Robbie’s dad throughout the whole movie. Maybe, in college, after she’s tired of going after professors, she’ll date a 27-year-old who she’ll end up marrying and having kids with, but she will never want to date some high school kid that she used to babysit. And she’s basically guaranteed that his virginity will continue into his 20s, because this poor kid is holding a torch for some chick that will never come around. Sure, he’s got great masturbation material, but I know if some older girl had given me nude pictures of her and then hightailed it out of there, then I would have been ruined. Almost absolutely ruined. She did worse than lead him on, she gave him something to relieve any frustration he might have from her not being with him. Sure he was already on the hook, but with that simple action, she’s dragging him behind the boat. And it’s not like she was moved by his speech, she had the pictures on her, meaning that she either wanted to try to give them to Cal (Steve Carrell) again or she had this devious plan all along. Seems cruel to me.
